Guwahati: The Press Information Bureau, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, organised a “Meet & Greet” event at Gauhati University on Monday.
The event, serving as a prelude to the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), aimed to connect students with industry professionals and explore career opportunities in the growing media and entertainment sector.
K Satish Namudiripad, DG, Northeast Zone Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University, inaugurated the event. Shri Nambudiripad emphasized the importance of WAVES as a platform for promoting youth creativity on digital platforms.
He said that creativity is going to be the future of the world and encouraged students to participate in its various competitions. Dr. Mahanta highlighted the role of innovation and creativity in today’s world, stating that the Northeast offers countless opportunities for ideas that emerge from its rich culture and traditions. He urged students to connect with their roots, engage with the land and its people to be truly innovative.
The event featured a panel discussion with industry professionals including Sanjib Parasar, Faculty, DBHRFTI; Jyotideep Baishya, Executive Editor, Time8; Moumita Biswas, Content Creator; and Kripanjal Rajbongshi, Anchor, DD News Assamese. The panel addressed student queries and provided insights into the industry.
The Create in India Challenges – Season 1 was a key highlight of the event. The competition series features online challenges in film poster making and reel making, which focused on visual storytelling and engaging short-form video content for social media platforms. The competition also includes an open mic competition for showcasing talents in music, poetry, stand-up comedy, and dance.
The “Meet & Greet” event provided a platform for students to network with professionals, explore career paths, and gain practical experience through the competitions.
