Krisarthak Selected by World Summit Awards

Guwahati: Krisarthak, a pioneering initiative aimed at providing financial literacy and counseling to underbanked and unbanked communities, has been recognized by the prestigious World Summit Awards (WSA) in the category of Business & Commerce for 2023.

The selection was made by an online jury as part of the WSA’s mission to promote local digital innovation for societal benefit.

The WSA serves as an international platform that celebrates digital innovation and its positive impact on society. Through a global network of start-ups, social entrepreneurs, and experts, the awards system identifies and promotes examples of how information and communication technologies (ICTs) can contribute to social advancement.

With a focus on sustainable knowledge transfer, the WSA offers winners lifelong partnerships and integration opportunities, along with a one-time financial reward. With 20 years of international experience, the WSA is recognized as a quality seal for digital content with societal impact across 182 participating countries.

This year, Krisarthak underwent rigorous evaluation by over 130 global experts representing various sectors and regions. The initiative stood out among more than 136 projects from 60 different countries, each making significant contributions to social progress.

Krisarthak operates under the Assam Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Services (ARIAS) Society, tailored to meet the needs of the farming community in Assam. It forms part of the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART), funded by the World Bank, with a specific focus on delivering financial literacy and counseling to 250,000 APART beneficiaries through digital and ICT tools.

Implemented across Assam, Krisarthak is spearheaded by a consortium led by the Digital Empowerment Foundation, a Delhi-based NGO with two decades of experience in empowering rural communities through digital interventions. The consortium includes partners such as the Fair Climate Fund (FCF), the Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM), and the Council for Social & Digital Development (CSDD).

Krisarthak’s recognition by the World Summit Awards underscores its commitment to driving positive change through financial education and empowerment, particularly among vulnerable and marginalized communities in Assam.
