Agartala: In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly killed a minor girl and later died by suicide at Kancnahpur in North Tripura district on Monday.
Police have confirmed that both individuals succumbed to their injuries.
According to available information, Kartik Nath (20), stopped the minor girl when she was going for tuitions. A heated altercation erupted between them and when she was leaving the spot, he stabbed her brutally using a sharp knife. She suffered grave injuries on her neck and chest leading to her death in the local hospital.

Later, the accused slit his own throat causing severe blood loss. He was immediately shifted to North Tripura district hospital for advanced treatment, but his life couldn’t be saved.
A specific case has been registered under relevant section in Kanchanpur police station. Speaking to EastMojo over phone, SDPO Kanchanpur Rushikesh Desai said, “As per the preliminary investigation, the boy and the girl used to know each other. There could be an angle of a one-sided love affair but there is no confirmation yet. The investigation is underway. We have registered a case in connection with the incident.”
