Agartala: Senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman emphasised that the triumph of Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Singh Debbarman in the Lok Sabha elections could signal Dr. Manik Saha’s exit from the Chief Minister’s post.
Barman highlighted the well-known internal conflicts within the ruling party, suggesting a faction within the BJP aims to dismantle Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s administration.
Addressing a public gathering in Kumarghat, the Congress MLA cautioned against the resurgence of lawlessness associated with motorcycle gangs if Dr. Manik Saha were to step down. Barman criticized the sidelining of respected BJP figures like sitting MP Rebati Tripura in favor of individuals lacking even basic election document proficiency.
Barman pointed out discrepancies in the affidavit of the present BJP candidate for the East Tripura constituency, citing errors in names and educational qualifications. He lamented the replacement of individuals with strong local ties with outsiders, citing Rebati Tripura as an example.

Barman urged voters to carefully consider their choices, echoing sentiments expressed by Leader of Opposition Jitendra Choudhury, who highlighted the need for unity among voters to prevent a repeat of the 2014 scenario where the NDA secured power despite receiving only 38 percent of the vote. Choudhury expressed optimism that this time, united opposition would lead to the BJP’s removal from power.
