Guwahati: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed that the central government has allocated a Rs 100 crore package for surrendered militants of the Nationalist Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), a proscribed outfit reportedly operating from hideouts in hilly regions of Bangladesh.
Saha made this announcement during a public gathering held at Gabordi in the West Tripura district on Sunday, where he was campaigning for Lok Sabha candidate Biplab Kumar Deb in the interior village.
Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the ultimate troubleshooter, attributing various peace accords signed since 2014 to establish peace and tranquility in the Northeast region to Modi’s leadership.
He cited the recent accord with the Tipra Motha Party as a testament to the government’s commitment to resolving issues in the region.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts in addressing the Bru imbroglio, emphasising that a substantial amount of Rs 600 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
“All the basic facilities were provided to them in 12 locations of Tripura where the Brus are permanently settled now,” he added.
