Agartala: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released a charge sheet against the CPIM and Congress detailing the political crimes committed by the parties during their stints in power.

Accusing the Congress and CPIM of resorting to an opportunistic understanding for survival, Bhattacharjee said, “They are power mongers. Disregarding the sacrifices of the hundreds of party workers who lost their lives and their bereaved families, both the parties stitched an unholy alliance which reeks of only a desire to get into power.”

Bhattacharjee emphasised his party’s optimism in securing victory in both Lok Sabha seats in the state.

The senior BJP leader Bhattacharjee highlighted the entry of Tipra Motha into the BJP-led alliance, which, according to him, bolstered their prospects. He expressed assurance in defeating the INDIA bloc in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP’s candidates for the Tripura West and Tripura East seats, former CM Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Devi Debbarma respectively, were highlighted as strong contenders.

Bhattacharjee presented a “Charge Sheet” that detailed the political crimes committed by the governments led by CPI(M) and Congress administrations in Tripura.

He dismissed former CM Manik Sarkar’s endorsement of the Congress candidate in Tripura West, labelling it as a departure from Communist ideology.

Regarding the CPI(M)-Congress alliance’s claims of safeguarding democracy and secularism, Bhattacharjee rebuffed them as mere attempts to seize power, confident that the electorate would reject them decisively.

On the political violence, Bhattacharjee said, “BJP put a full stop to politically sponsored violence in the state. We have already asked our party workers to stay away from any kind of provocation coming from the opposition parties. We are an organisation with a single objective: service of the people.”

According to Bhattacharjee, being the ruling party of Tripura, the BJP must maintain discipline and show respect for the law and order. “At every level of our organization, we are committed to protecting peace and tranquillity. Any violation of the party’s regulation shall invite consequences,” he added.
