India is set to host the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup for the first time in the second half of 2025, marking a significant milestone for the country in shooting sport. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has been awarded the hosting rights for the prestigious junior competition for Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun events.
This will be the third major ISSF event held in India, following the senior World Cup in Bhopal in 2023 and the ISSF World Cup Final earlier this year. According to the NRAI, this development underscores India’s growing reputation as a premier destination for international shooting competitions.
Reacting to the announcement, NRAI President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said, “We had a very fruitful executive committee meeting of the ISSF in Rome last month, and all member federations, as well as ISSF President Luciano Rossi, praised the way India has been hosting top international shooting competitions and contributing to the sport’s global growth. We are excited and energised to put our best foot forward as usual. We are indebted to the Government of India and the Ministry of Sports for their unwavering support in growing the sport in the country.”

NRAI Secretary General K. Sultan Singh added that the ISSF has requested India to propose two possible time slots for the event—one in September-October and another in late October to early November. “We will finalise the dates soon and communicate them to ISSF so member federations can prepare accordingly. The event will bring the world’s top junior shooting talents to India, and we are confident it will provide a grassroots boost to the sport,” he said.
This will be the first ISSF Junior World Cup hosted in India, and the ninth top-level ISSF event in the country over the past decade. India has previously hosted continental championships and six ISSF events, including two World Cup Finals and four senior ISSF World Cups.
In addition to the Junior World Cup, 2025 will see India’s shooting ranges host a variety of events, including the inaugural Shooting League of India (SLI) in the first half of the year, alongside regular national competitions.
