Gangtok: The Sikkim Government announced the new portfolios for its council of ministers on Wednesday. The gazette notification was issued by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay will oversee 11 key departments including Home, Finance, Planning and Development, Department of Personnel, Power, Excise, Land Revenue and Disaster Management, Transport, Information and Public Relations, Information Technology, Skill Development, and other departments not allocated to other ministers.
The cabinet ministers and their respective portfolios include:
Sonam Lama, a minister in the first term of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government, retained the Ecclesiastical Department and newly secured the Public Health Engineering and Water Resources Departments.
Arun Kumar Upreti, also a former minister and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, has secured the Rural Development and Cooperation Departments.
Samdup Lepcha, a former minister, will now head the Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Printing and Stationery Departments.
Bhim Hang Limboo, another former minister, will now be the minister for the Building and Housing, and Labour Departments.
Newly elected legislator from Poklok Kamrang, Bhoj Raj Rai, will be the minister for Urban Development, and Food and Civil Supplies.
Two-time legislator Gay Tshering Dhungel is the minister in charge of Health and Family Welfare, as well as Culture and Heritage Affairs Departments.
Chujachen MLA Puran Kumar Gurung will hold the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, and Fisheries Departments.
Dzongu MLA Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, who was with the BJP until the 2024 elections, has now secured the Forest and Environment, Mines and Geology, and Science and Technology Departments.
Nar Bahadur Dahal from Singtam Khamdong constituency will be the Minister for Roads and Bridges.
