The third edition of Arunachal Fashion Week (AFW), titled The Artisans’ Movement, is set to take place in December 2025 at Interior Park, Lekhi, Naharlagun. The ten-day event will celebrate Arunachal Pradesh’s weaving traditions, craftsmanship and design talent while promoting sustainable fashion and local entrepreneurship.
Organised by the NGO One Arunachal, the initiative aims to strengthen the state’s creative economy under the themes of Vocal for Local and Viksit Arunachal. Chairperson of One Arunachal and chief organiser of the event, Joram Tat, said the fashion week seeks to recognise the artisans behind Arunachal’s cultural identity rather than focus solely on glamour.
“The Artisans’ Movement is our effort to shift the focus from glamour to grassroots, from runways to the real hands that weave our identity. Every thread spun in our villages carries a story of tradition, skill, and self-reliance,” Tat said.
The organisers acknowledged the support of Chief Patron Nyato Dukam, Minister for Commerce and Industries, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Textile and Handicrafts, Trade and Commerce, and Sericulture, and Patron Dr Mohesh Chai, MLA and advisor to the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Health.
Dear Reader,
Every day, our team at EastMojo travels through rain, rough roads, and remote hills to bring you stories that matter – stories from your town, your people, your Northeast.
We do this because we believe in truthful, independent journalism. No big corporate backing, no government pressure – just honest reporting by local journalists who live and breathe the same air you do.
But to keep doing this work, we need you. Your small contribution helps us pay our reporters fairly, reach places others ignore, and keep asking the tough questions.
If you believe the Northeast deserves its own fearless voice, stand with us.
Support independent journalism. Be a Member.
Thank you,
