As winter sets in, Indian Railways has announced adjustments to train schedules, including cancellations and reduced frequency of services, in response to the challenges posed by dense fog. These measures aim to prioritise passenger safety and maintain operational efficiency during the foggy season, which is known for causing reduced visibility and operational disruptions. The adjustments will remain in place for the coming months to mitigate risks associated with adverse weather conditions.
Several train services have been temporarily cancelled. The Dibrugarh–Chandigarh Express (Train No. 15903) will not operate on Mondays and Fridays until 28th February 2025, while its return service, the Chandigarh–Dibrugarh Express (Train No. 15904), will be cancelled on Wednesdays and Sundays until 2nd March 2025. Similarly, the Kamakhya–Gaya Express (Train No. 15620) will remain cancelled on Mondays until 24th February 2025, with the return service (Train No. 15619) not running on Tuesdays until 25th February 2025. Additionally, the Kamakhya–Anand Vihar Terminal Express (Train No. 15621) and its return service (Train No. 15622) will be cancelled on Thursdays and Fridays, respectively, until the end of February.
In addition to cancellations, several trains will see a reduction in frequency. The Kamakhya–Anand Vihar Terminal Northeast Express (Train No. 12505) will not operate on Sundays and Wednesdays until 8th January 2025, with its return service (Train No. 12506) suspended on Tuesdays and Fridays during the same period. The Alipurduar–Delhi Sikkim Mahananda Express (Train No. 15483) will be cancelled on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 8th January 2025, and the return service (Train No. 15484) will not run on Fridays and Mondays until 10th January 2025. Similarly, the New Jalpaiguri–New Delhi Express (Train No. 12523) will remain cancelled on Tuesdays until 25th February 2025, with the return service (Train No. 12524) not operating on Wednesdays until 26th February 2025. The Dibrugarh–Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express (Train No. 15909) and its return service (Train No. 15910) will also have reduced frequency, with cancellations on Saturdays and Tuesdays, respectively, until the end of February.
