The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway continues to conduct regular checks and drives at various stations and on trains to curb the transportation of contraband items. Between November 1 and 15, 2024, these operations led to the apprehension of three individuals and the seizure of contraband goods valued at over Rs. 11.14 lakh.
Notably, in October 2024, the RPF of N.F. Railway conducted multiple checks and drives, resulting in the recovery of contraband goods and narcotics worth over Rs. 1.42 crore and the apprehension of 28 individuals.
One significant recent operation took place on November 8, 2024, when the RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) teams at Agartala station conducted a joint check. During the operation, 10 kilograms of ganja, valued at approximately Rs. 1 lakh, were recovered, and one individual was apprehended. The suspect and the seized ganja were subsequently handed over to the Officer-in-Charge of GRP Agartala for further legal action.
In another incident on November 11, 2024, the RPF’s Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) team from Guwahati apprehended two individuals at Guwahati Railway Station. The team seized 55 bottles of liquor valued at over Rs. 10,000. The detained individuals and the recovered liquor were handed over to the Excise Department in Guwahati for necessary follow-up action.
The RPF of N.F. Railway has been vigilant in undertaking comprehensive measures to prevent drug trafficking via the railway network. RPF teams at various levels conduct frequent drives and checks in all suspect trains, stations, and passenger areas to ensure the railway system remains secure and free from illegal activities.
