Gangtok: A 72-year-old woman from Andheri near Singtam town was reportedly murdered by her 21-year-old grandson on Friday.
According to a report from the Singtam Police Station, the victim, identified as Chandra Maya Mukhia, was a resident of Lower Chisopani near Andheri in the Gangtok District. She worked at the famed Sikkim Supreme juice manufacturing factory nearby.
The Sikkim Police swiftly resolved the case within four hours, leading to the arrest of the grandson, who allegedly used a sickle to fatally stab his grandmother multiple times.
The investigation is currently underway to uncover the motive behind this tragic incident. The Sikkim Police will provide further details during a scheduled press conference on Saturday.
