Kohima: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2024 on Friday. Out of 22,136 candidates, a total of 15,588 candidates successfully passed the examination.
The overall pass percentage for the HSLC examination showed a slight increase at 71.87%, compared to 70.32% in 2023.
However, a breakdown of the pass percentages between government and private schools revealed a decline. Government schools recorded a pass percentage of 48.55%, a decline as compared to 49.13 in 2023.
Likewise, private schools reported a pass percentage of 86.77% when it boasted a higher pass percentage of 91.15% in 2023.
Among the successful candidates, 1,365 female students from government schools and 6,039 male students from private schools cleared the examination. In private schools, 6,909 female students and 909 male students passed the exam.
Mhachilo Yanthan (98.83%) from Christian Higher Secondary School in Dimapur secured the first rank, followed by Ketsino Jane Frances (98.67%) from St. Paul School, Phesama, in the second position.
Pabitra Deb (98.50%) from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and Amina Begum (98.50%) from M.G.M. Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, jointly secured the third rank.
Out of the top 20 rank holders in the rank holders in the recently declared HSLC result 2024, 23 are boys and 54 are girls.
District-wise performance for government schools saw Kohima district leading with a pass percentage of 67%, followed by Tseminyu and Phek districts at 61% and 60%, respectively. Shamator district recorded the lowest pass percentage at 3%.

In terms of private schools, Tseminyu district topped the list with a pass percentage of 93%, followed by Kohima and Mokokchung at 90%.
Meanwhile, 22 students under the category of Children with disabilities appeared for the examination with various concessions such as extra time, exemption of examination fees, scribe, and the use of a laptop. Out of them, 12 successfully qualified the examination.
