Agartala: In a significant political twist, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has named TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s elder sister Kriti Singh Debbarman as the party’s candidate for the East Tripura parliamentary constituency.
The announcement was made on Wednesday evening followed by the meeting of the party’s parliamentary panel headed by PM Modi.
Speculations had been rife after BJP did not release the name of candidate for the East Tripura.

Debbarman in a press briefing stated that his party would take the final call on the candidature from East Tripura. He said that symbol doesn’t matter. “Whoever goes to Delhi should be someone from us who will raise our issues. People who have been against our cause my create stumbling blocks in implementation of the accord once elected to the office,” he added.
