Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Friday met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Mantripukhri, Imphal.
During the meeting, Gor described Manipur as a “stunning place” with remarkable natural beauty and welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on the development of Northeast India.
The US ambassador enquired about tourist arrivals in Manipur and spoke of the close relationship between Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump, saying Trump personally cherishes the relationship.
Singh invited Gor to attend the Manipur Sangai Festival 2026 and highlighted tourism and allied sectors as potential areas for development.
The chief minister said India is a “mini world” and Manipur a “mini India”, noting that the state is home to 36 communities.
Gor was accompanied by US Consul General in Kolkata Kathy Giles-Diaz. The chief minister was accompanied by state officials led by Manipur Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur.
