Guwahati Police achieved a major breakthrough in its attempts to curb the illegal drug trade when they seized 30,000 bottles of the banned cough syrup Phensedyl.
According to initial information, the seized bottles were part of an international drug route which planned to take these bottles to Bangladesh via Assam and Meghalaya. The bottles were being smuggled from West Bengal.
The police have arrested three people in connection with the drug bust. The operation was carried out under JCP Partha Mahanta, who has been at the forefront of several such drug busts in the recent past.
