Kohima: The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) named Medo Yhokha as its consensus candidate from 14 southern Angami-I. Opposition party, Naga People’s Front (NPF) announced Kikovi Kirha as its candidate.
PDA is an alliance of the ruling government–the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The NDPP party ticket was handed to Yhokha in the presence of the presidents of both parties, the chief minister, deputy chief minister, secretary general and others during a ceremony on Thursday evening.

Taking to twitter, NDPP secretary general Abu Metha wrote: “Chaired the felicitation program for the bye elections in 14 Souther Angami assembly seat of #Nagaland. I wish our candidate Mr. Medo Yhokha all success. Thank you @BJP4India“.
Deputy CM Y Patton also tweeted saying: “Congratulations to Shri Medo Yokha who’d be contesting the upcoming bye-election for 14 Southern Angami-I A/C as the PDA candidate. Shri Yokha is someone who has an incredible zeal to serve the people and bring positive changes. I wish him the very best!”.
