Railway subsidy of Rs 56,993 crore reduces travel costs for passengers

To accommodate the high passenger demand during the 2024 festive season, Northeast Frontier Railway (N. F. Railway) has introduced eight additional pairs of special trains. These festive specials are set to provide relief to passengers by offering increased connectivity to popular destinations and easing travel congestion.

Among the new services, the New Jalpaiguri-Gomtinagar Festive Special (Train No. 05742) will depart from New Jalpaiguri at 08:00 daily from 3rd to 24th November, reaching Gomtinagar the following day at 07:15. The return service (Train No. 05741) will leave Gomtinagar at 09:20 from 4th to 25th November, reaching New Jalpaiguri by 10:45 the next day. Similarly, the Ranchi-Purnia Court Festive Special (Train No. 08626) will run on select days, departing Ranchi at 18:00 on the 3rd and 10th of November, with a return on the 4th and 11th from Purnia Court at 12:10.

Another addition, the Katihar-Gomtinagar Festive Special (Train No. 05738), will depart Katihar at 11:25 daily from 4th to 25th November, reaching Gomtinagar the next day. The return trip (Train No. 05737) will operate from Gomtinagar between 5th and 26th November. Additionally, services between Tatanagar Junction and Katihar, Guwahati and Gomtinagar, and Agartala and Dharmanagar are scheduled to run on selected dates to cater to passengers in those regions.

In addition to passenger convenience, N. F. Railway has ensured timely information distribution, with full schedules, routes, and stops available on the IRCTC website, social media channels, and newspapers. Passengers are encouraged to verify train details before travelling to avoid last-minute changes.
