In a bid to enhance convenience for general category passengers, Indian Railways has announced the addition of 92 new general category coaches to 46 key long-distance trains. The initiative aims to accommodate more passengers and improve the travel experience. Furthermore, plans are in place to increase the number of general class coaches in 22 additional trains.

The trains receiving additional coaches include the Guwahati Bikaner Express, Guwahati Barmer Express, Silghat Town Tambaram Nagaon Express, Guwahati Lokmanya Tilak Express, Guwahati Jammu Tawi Express, and the Guwahati Okha Express. Also included are the Guwahati Bengaluru Superfast Express, Dibrugarh Lalgarh Awadh Assam Express, Varanasi Indore Superfast Express, Kashi Mahakal Varanasi Indore Superfast Express, Dhanbad Alappuzha Express, Kathgodam Dehradun Express, and the Jaipur Mysore Superfast Express.

Other trains set to benefit from this initiative are the Tirupati Kollam Express, Howrah Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Bengaluru Bhagalpur Express, Yesvantpur Kannur Express, Ajmer Mysore Express, Howrah Secunderabad Express, Mysore Tuticorin Express, Jodhpur Bengaluru Express, KSR Bengaluru City Belagavi Superfast Express, and the Chennai Central Hubli Superfast Express.

Additional coaches will also be attached to the Bengaluru Bhagalpur Ang Express, Bangalore City Sangli Rani Chennamma Express, Kota Junction Danapur Superfast Express, Kota Sirsa Express, Bhavnagar Bandra Terminus Superfast Express, Veraval Junction Mumbai Bandra Veraval Junction Saurashtra Janata Express, Mumbai Bandra – Bhuj Kutch Superfast Express, Bhuj Dadar Sayaji Nagari Superfast Express, Mumbai Bengaluru Udayan Express, Mumbai Amravati Superfast Express, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal Nagpur Sevagram Express.

This addition of coaches is expected to provide significant relief to the travelling public, facilitating a more comfortable journey for general category passengers.
