The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has apprehended a Pakistani boat in the Arabian Sea. The boat was carrying about six people and had drugs worth Rs 480 crore onboard. The ICG took the boat into custody after a joint operation.
The operation was carried out on the 11th and 12th of March. The ICG had received intelligence about the boat’s movements and deployed its ships in the Arabian Sea.
The ships were coordinated with Dornier aircraft to locate the boat. After a search was conducted in the area, the ICG ships and the Dornier aircraft team arrived at the location and identified the boat. The boat was moving suspiciously in the dark, and as a result, the ICG ships started evasive manoeuvring. However, the boat was eventually caught and forced to stop by the ICG ships.
The boarding team of the boat was also taken into custody for preliminary checks and investigations. It has been found that the boat was carrying about 80 kg of drugs worth Rs 480 crore. The boat and its crew have been apprehended, and they are being brought to Porbandar for further investigations.
This is the tenth apprehension made by the ICG in the last three years, with a total of 517 kg of narcotics worth Rs 3135 crore seized.
