Nagaland: Education partners meet to build data-driven ecosystem

Kohima: Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, in collaboration with ConveGenius, organised a partner meet on integration with the Nagaland Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Kohima on October 5, bringing together organisations working across the state’s education sector to promote a coordinated, data-driven ecosystem.

The meet aimed to move away from fragmented initiatives towards greater collaboration, data sharing and technology-enabled governance in education.

Nagaland VSK is being developed as a central hub for education data and technology-enabled governance, serving as a single source of information where the contributions of different organisations can be captured and made visible.

Partners were introduced to the VSK’s 6A framework — Attendance, Adaptive Learning, Assessment, Administration, Accreditation and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Aligning their data with the framework would enable their contributions to be reflected at the national level through the Rashtriya Vidya Samiksha Kendra (RVSK), which connects Nagaland to the national education data architecture.

Delivering the key address, L. Jamithung Lotha, IAS, State Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, said many interventions across the state were being implemented in silos, with limited coordination among organisations. This often resulted in duplication of efforts and inefficient use of resources.

He said forums such as the partner meet were intended to create awareness of the initiatives being undertaken by different organisations and foster collaboration, ensuring that data generated through various programmes could be integrated into the VSK.

Participating organisations shared their ongoing initiatives and explored ways to connect their datasets, application programming interfaces (APIs), dashboards and technology solutions with the platform.

Discussions covered student, teacher and school registries, attendance, assessment, adaptive learning, accreditation, administration, field monitoring and AI-enabled insights.

Participants agreed on the need for a phased approach to data integration, with an emphasis on reducing duplication in data collection, establishing common reporting frameworks and improving interoperability across education initiatives.

The meet was attended by representatives of NagaEd, Elevate Foundation, Vibha India, Antarang Foundation, Lend A Hand India, Mantra for Change, Key Education Foundation, NECTAR, NITI, Shiksha Lokam, Saturday Art Class, IPE Global, Luminous Infoways, Probit Plus and other organisations working in the state.

Officials from Samagra Shiksha, the Directorate of School Education, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) also participated.

The participating organisations collectively committed to working with the state government to improve the quality of education for learners across Nagaland, leveraging data, technology and collaboration to strengthen planning, monitoring and decision-making.
