Students can now apply for up to four subjects, an increase from the earlier limit of three. Candidates failing in up to four subjects are eligible to appear for the compartmental examination, while those who have passed but wish to improve their performance may also apply under the same criteria. Eligible candidates will be given two chances to clear or improve their results.
The HSLC and HSSLC compartmental and improvement examinations are scheduled to be held in June 2026. Candidates can apply online through the NBSE portal from May 11 to May 16, 2026.

Candidates who passed the HSLC examination but received a “Needs Improvement” in one subject will be allowed to reappear in that subject at the immediate next examination. This provision is intended to help students meet eligibility requirements for higher education and employment.
The board has also informed that migration certificates will be made available digitally through its official portal. Candidates can download the certificate, which will be digitally signed, and verify it using Adobe software. Those requiring a hard copy may collect it from the board office during working hours after receiving their original marksheets.
