Depending on the number of participating teams, the tournament will follow either a knockout format for eight teams or a round-robin format followed by a final for seven teams. Each team must have a minimum squad size of 15 players and a maximum of 20 players.

The association informed that all city and district leagues must be completed on or before May 31, 2026. An amount of Rs. 75,000 will be provided for the conduct of each tournament as approved under the scheme supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Player registration on the CRS/CMS platform has been made mandatory for participation.

The designated host districts have been asked to confirm their willingness to organise the league within three days and submit proposed match dates, venue details and the name of a designated point of contact for coordination with the association. The NFA stated that failure to respond within the stipulated timeline may result in the hosting rights being transferred to another district.

The ASMITA U-16 Girls League forms part of a nationwide grassroots football development initiative aimed at strengthening the pipeline of young women footballers across the country.
