Kohima: Nagaland’s Mechievilie Yashü has been appointed as a match official for I-League 3 by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), marking another milestone in his journey as a football referee.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in Imphal, Manipur from April 27 to May 6, 2026.
With this appointment, Yashü, who is the first national-level referee from Nagaland, has also become the first referee from the state to be listed to officiate within the I-League structure.
Prior to this selection, Yashü has officiated in several major AIFF tournaments, including the 79th National Football Championship (Santosh Trophy) 2025–26, Dr T Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025–26, 30th Senior Women’s National Football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2025–26, AIFF U-17 Elite Youth League 2024–25, Sub-Junior Boys’ National Football Championship 2024–25, and the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for BC Roy Trophy 2024–25.

He has also officiated at the 11th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament in Sikkim (2026) and the All India Police Meet 2026.
Congratulating the referee on his achievement, the Nagaland Football Association described Yashü as a forerunner in the field of football refereeing and expressed pride in his continued accomplishments at the national level.
