Kohima: An individual was found dead along Thizama Road in Kohima on Thursday evening, police said, adding that no foul play has been suspected so far.
According to the Kohima Police, information was received at around 8:00 PM on April 16 regarding an unresponsive person lying along the stretch of Thizama Road. Following the alert, a team from North Police Station was immediately dispatched to the spot.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was requisitioned to assist in examining the scene. Upon their arrival, the body was recovered and a detailed preliminary examination of the area was carried out in accordance with established legal procedures.
Based on initial observations made at the site, police said there was no indication of foul play at this stage.

An inquest was conducted as per legal requirements. After completion of necessary documentation and medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for final rites and burial.
Kohima Police informed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and efforts are underway to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the case.
