Guwahati: Governor La Ganesan presided over the 53rd Vijay Diwas celebrations at the Jakhama Military Station in Nagaland on Monday. The Governor paid tribute to the armed forces, honouring their bravery and sacrifices in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
“The victory of 16th December 1971 did not just reshape borders; it restored dignity, justice, and humanity to millions,” stated Governor Ganesan.
He emphasised the significance of the victory, highlighting the courage and resilience of the soldiers who ensured peace and sovereignty for the nation.
The Governor commended the ongoing dedication of servicemen and servicewomen across India, stating that they embody commitment and service, protecting the nation’s freedoms and fostering hope for a secure and prosperous future.
Governor Ganesan urged attendees to reflect on the values upheld by the armed forces – unity, courage, and sacrifice – emphasising their importance in maintaining national strength.
The Governor concluded by remembering the fallen soldiers, calling them true heroes and emphasizing the duty to ensure their sacrifices continue to inspire future generations.
