After Wales & Japan, Peru to Partner with Nagaland's Hornbill Festival

Kohima: After Wales and Japan, Peru has been announced as the Partner Country for the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival, scheduled to commence on December 1, 2024.

The announcement was made jointly by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Peru’s Ambassador to India, Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, during a meeting in New Delhi.

Chief Minister Rio, along with his cabinet colleagues, including the two Deputy Chief Ministers, held discussions with the Peruvian Ambassador before making the formal declaration.

Peru is the third nation to collaborate with the Nagaland government for the Hornbill Festival, following similar partnerships with Wales and Japan in previous editions.

Highlighting the partnership, Ambassador Velarde confirmed that artists, cultural performers, and dancers from Peru will participate in various events during the festival.

Welcoming the collaboration, Chief Minister Rio expressed confidence that the partnership would foster stronger bilateral ties and enhance cultural exchanges between India and Peru. He lauded the Ambassador’s efforts in facilitating the association and shared that Nagaland is eager to host the Peruvian delegation at the “Festival of Festivals.”
