The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has urged the Nagaland State Government to submit its comments on the “Highlight of the draft MoS with ENPO on FNT” before the October 31, 2024 deadline. This decision was taken during a coordination and consultative meeting with its Frontal and Tribal Organisations, held recently in Mon Town.
Earlier, ENPO had formally requested the Chief Minister of Nagaland on August 23, 2024, to provide feedback “as expected by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.” A follow-up reminder was sent on September 14, 2024. However, the state government has yet to respond.
ENPO officials emphasized that the matter dates back to December 18, 2023, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah handed over the “Highlight of the draft MoS with ENPO on FNT” to the state government for immediate comment.
“It may be recalled that on December 18, 2023, the Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shahji handed over the ‘Highlight of the draft MoS with ENPO on FNT’ to the state government for its comment at the earliest. However, the issue remains unresolved for reasons best known to the state government,” ENPO stated.
The organisation stressed the importance of addressing the concerns of the eastern Naga tribes. “We once again remind our Hon’ble Chief Minister to consider the needs of the Eastern Nagas in their quest to fulfil a long-cherished aspiration,” it added.
Additionally, ENPO announced that its Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting will be held on November 1, 2024, where further action on the matter will be deliberated.
