Kohima: Nagaland’s badminton team achieved impressive results at the Yonex Sunrise North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championship 2024 held in Guwahati from September 7 to 10.
Represented by 23 players (12 girls and 11 boys) and two officials, Tajenkaba Ao (Coach) and R. Thsanso Yim (Manager), Nagaland secured a total of six medals, including one gold, two silver, and three bronze.
In the team championship for women, Nagaland’s team earned a bronze medal. The bronze was also secured by Leimapokpam Diana and Huidrom Chanu Vilinda in the Women’s Doubles category.
The standout performance came from N Yohenba Singh, who clinched gold in the Under-19 Boys Singles.
The silver medals were awarded to Peramrisi Zeliang and Debahuti Lahon in the Mixed Doubles (Senior) category, and A. Ponlih Konyak and Imlikumla in the Under-19 Girls Doubles.
