ONDC, a flagship initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, aims to democratise e-commerce in India. In Nagaland, the Department of Industries & Commerce serves as the nodal department for promoting and advancing the successful implementation of this initiative within the state.

As per a government update, the primary goal of the MoU is to collaborate in facilitating digital sales for small businesses, farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs through the ONDC platform, thereby enhancing their digital inclusion. This partnership aims to empower and enable these diverse business entities by leveraging digital solutions and fostering sustainable growth.

To ensure further expansion and widespread participation, the Government of Nagaland has empanelled Ilandlo Services Private Limited, a Nagaland-based e-commerce brand, to act as the nodal agency. Ilandlo Services will work to bring local artisans, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), entrepreneurs, and others under its umbrella, assisting them in the onboarding process onto the ONDC Network.

This initiative provides a channel for local business entities, who often face challenges in accessing broader markets, to showcase their products and generate revenue through Ilandlo’s e-commerce platform.
