Kohima: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather advisory for the coming days, warning residents of the state to prepare for light to heavy rainfall accompanied by other pre-monsoon activities.
The weather conditions are expected to be fairly widespread and may last till April 21, 2024.
According to the NSDMA, Nagaland is likely to experience partly cloudy moderate rainfall from the April 19-23 in various districts including Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Jalukie, Noklak, Kohima, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, and Zunheboto.
However, heavy rainfall is expected in districts such as Longleng, Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Wokha during the same period.
The weather system may also bring with it other pre-monsoon activities such as lightning, thunderstorms, and squally winds. Residents have been advised to exercise caution and stay safe by following the safety measures previously issued by the NSDMA and the Home Department.
During this period, the minimum and maximum temperatures across the state are expected to vary between 15°C and 41°C respectively.
