Aizawl: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police successfully intercepted a major consignment of war-like stores, recovering 39,900 detonators near the Tiau River on the Indo-Myanmar border. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of the illegal items in the area.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the security forces spotted a suspect on a bike. However, the rider, realizing he was about to be caught, abandoned the vehicle and fled across the river, escaping into Myanmar.
Upon thoroughly searching the abandoned bike, authorities recovered the detonators along with a mobile phone. The recovered items have been handed over to Mizoram Police for further investigation.
Mizoram, which shares a porous border with Myanmar, remains vulnerable to the smuggling of arms and other illegal items, making such operations crucial in maintaining security and stability in the region.
