Aizawl: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on Wednesday conferred the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024 to 15 exemplary nursing professionals, including H Mankimi from Serchhip, Mizoram. The ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, honoring the nurses for their outstanding commitment to healthcare and community service.
H Mankimi, currently serving as the Ward Superintendent at Serchhip District Hospital, was recognized for her dedication and exceptional contributions to the healthcare sector in Mizoram. The award celebrates her unwavering commitment to public health and patient care, making her a role model in the nursing profession.
The event was attended by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, and other dignitaries. In his address, J P Nadda praised the awardees, stating, “Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare sector,” and expressed hope that the recognition would inspire them to continue excelling in their service to the nation.
The National Florence Nightingale Award, instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1973, recognizes meritorious nursing professionals employed in Central, State/UTs, and Voluntary Organizations. It is awarded to those who demonstrate excellence in hospital, community, educational, or administrative settings. Each award consists of a Certificate of Merit, a Cash Award of Rs. 1,00,000, and a medal.
