Aizawl: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday called for the Mizoram state government to establish comprehensive policies regarding refugees.
The party expressed dissatisfaction with the current care provided to refugees and highlighted the urgent need for structured plans to address potential challenges.
In a statement, AAP leaders emphasised that without a proper policy framework, the state is at risk of facing significant problems if major issues arise related to refugee management. They pointed out that there is currently no accurate record of the number of refugees in Mizoram and no established policies for their care and welfare.

The AAP also referred to the ethnic conflict in Manipur, noting that while a rally was held in Mizoram on July 23, 2024, to bring attention to the issue, the matter has not been given much importance since then.
They highlighted that Mizoram has been one of the most affected regions due to the influx of refugees, yet there has been a lack of sustained attention and action from the state government.
