Aizawl: In a noteworthy operation against wildlife trafficking, Kanhmun Police intercepted a Maxi Cab on duty at the Kanhmun Police Check Gate, unearthing a significant consignment of exotic animals.
The vehicle, which commutes between Aizawl and Agartala, bore the registration number TR 06 0002 and was driven by Chawngthanmawia, 32, from Tudui, Amapur District, Tripura, who also owned the vehicle.
At approximately 9:00 AM on Saturday, police personnel conducted a thorough check of the Maxi Cab and discovered 18 snakes, 4 turtles, and 2 monkeys concealed inside. These animals were immediately seized, and the driver was taken into custody for questioning.
During the interrogation, Chawngthanmawia disclosed that the parcels containing the exotic animals were sent by one Binoi Molsom, also known as Sanga Molsom, from Zodin Bus Stand in Aizawl, Mizoram. He was instructed to deliver the parcels to a person named Sumo at Zo Sumo Travels Counter in Agartala, located at Samuli Bazar, GB Agartala.

Acting swiftly, Sairang Police located and apprehended Binoi Molsom, 34, from Bakbasa, North Tripura, currently residing in Silai Mual Melthum, Aizawl, Mizoram. He was detained for further investigation and necessary legal actions.
The seized exotic animals were handed over to the Range Officer of the Kanhmun Forest Range, Forest Department, Mizoram, for further legal procedures.
