Mizoram gears up for Lok Sabha vote counting

Aizawl: Districts across Mizoram are preparing for the vote counting of the Lok Sabha polls, with extensive training and equipment checks being conducted to ensure a smooth process.

In Kolasib district, a comprehensive training program was held on Tuesday for ‘Counting Supervisors’, ‘Counting Assistants’, and ‘Counting Micro Observers’. The sessions took place at the I&PR Conference Hall, BRC Hall, and DC Conference Hall.

Vote counting in the district will occur at Government Kolasib College, which will host three ‘Counting Halls’. The counting process will involve 42 individuals, including Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, and Counting Micro Observers.

In Khawzawl district, a first-level checking of the reserved Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) was conducted at the Khawzawl DC auditorium. The event was attended by Deputy DEO Lalfakzuala, Election Officer Timothy R. Lalhmangaiha, other election officials, and party representatives. Engineers from the Electronic Corporations of India Limited (ECIL) provided assistance during the checking.

Similarly, first-level checking of EVMs was carried out in Siaha and Hnahthial districts. In Siaha, votes for the Member of Parliament from the 39-Saiha and 40-Palak Assembly constituencies will be counted at the DC Office New Building Vawiin. The checking in Hnahthial was overseen by Election Officer Lalbiakfela.
