Imphal: Tension flared at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, Manipur, on Monday after reports emerged that three injured individuals from the Kuki community had been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
A large number of people gathered outside the hospital premises and staged protests against the admission of the injured persons, leading to a heightened security situation in the area.

According to sources, protesters attempted to enter the hospital premises where the three individuals were undergoing treatment. Central security forces deployed at the hospital intervened and used tear gas shells to disperse the crowd and prevent any breach of security.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the state following the recent killing of six Naga men in Kangpokpi district, an incident that has triggered widespread anger and demands for justice.
The three injured individuals sustained bullet injuries during an exchange of fire at Leilon Munlui, a village located between Leilon Vaiphei and Konsakhul, on Monday morning. They were subsequently evacuated and brought to RIMS by central security forces for medical treatment.
Hospital sources said arrangements were being made to airlift the injured persons to another location for further treatment. However, officials have not yet disclosed the destination or timeline for the transfer.
