Aizawl: Chief Minister Lalduhoma of Mizoram joined members of the Assam Cultural Society in celebrating Rongali Bihu, the Assamese New Year, in a vibrant program held at Vanapa Hall. The Chief Minister graced the occasion as the chief guest, extending his warm greetings and best wishes to all present.
In his address, Chief Minister Lalduhoma emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting cultural traditions, highlighting the rich heritage of each community. He urged the youth to uphold the values passed down by their ancestors, stressing that cultural continuity is a collective responsibility. He commended the Assam Cultural Society for their efforts in celebrating Rongali Bihu.
Reflecting on Mizoram’s historical ties with Assam, Chief Minister Lalduhoma recalled the state’s journey from being under Assam’s administration to its emergence as an independent state. He emphasized the significance of maintaining cordial relations between Mizoram and Assam, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation for development and progress. Lalduhoma shared insights from his recent meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, where both leaders affirmed their commitment to fostering peaceful relations along the border.

According to reports, approximately 500 Assamese individuals presently reside in Mizoram.
