Mizoram Police and AR seize heroin, gelatin sticks, and detonators in joint operation

Aizawl: On Monday, Mizoram Police and Assam Rifles seized a substantial quantity of heroin, gelatin sticks, and detonators. The operation, conducted under the direct supervision of Gavit Gogna, IPS, SDPO of Champhai, witnessed successful seizures in the border region of Zokhawthar.

Under the close watch of SDPO Gogna, law enforcement teams conducted coordinated efforts resulting in two major seizures.

A total of 198 soap cases containing 2.393 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from two individuals identified as B. Liansanga (45 yrs) and R. Malsawmthara (35 yrs). The narcotics, with a market value of approximately ₹71,79,000, were being transported from Myanmar to Zokhawthar in a Tata Yodha Pickup vehicle registered under the name of B. Liansanga. Both individuals have been apprehended, and a case has been registered at the Zokhawthar Police Station.

Additionally, 110 gelatin sticks weighing 14.084 kilograms along with 110 detonators were seized from a couple identified as Biakrema (29 yrs) and Ramthazuali (28 yrs). The couple, hailing from Tiau Khawmawi village in Chin state, Myanmar, was in the process of transporting these items from Zokhawthar to the Myanmar side using a Kenbo 125 Myanmar Scooty owned by the accused. A case has been registered at the Zokhawthar Police Station in connection with this seizure.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of further investigation to establish both forward and backward linkages in these cases. The joint interrogation of the accused individuals will be instrumental in uncovering any potential networks involved in these illegal activities.
