Aizawl: The Mizoram Chief Secretary was officially informed on February 10, 2024, regarding the release of the sanctioned amount of Rs. 500 crores for the construction of the Aizawl Bypass Road on the western side under the PM-DevINE Scheme. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had initially announced this allocation in 2022 during the presentation of the Union Budget.
Among the various projects outlined, two crucial allocations were made for Mizoram – Rs. 500 crores for the Construction of Aizawl Bypass on the western side and Rs. 100 crores for the Pilot project for the construction of Bamboo Link Road at different locations in various districts in the state.
The official Twitter handle of Mizoram Chief Minister shared the noteworthy information, stating that the Chief Secretary of Mizoram was officially notified of the Rs. 500 crore sanction for the Aizawl Bypass Road.
In a press statement on Monday, the Mizo National Front party credited Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s efforts in securing the funds. The statement acknowledged the challenges faced during the sanctioning process, particularly issues related to compensation. Despite these challenges, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured Zoramthanga that the sanctioning process would be successful.
