Shillong: The Meghalaya High Court on Thursday granted additional time, as requested by the Dorbar Shnong, to resolve the issue concerning the grant of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the annual pilgrimage to Krem Mawjymbuin, Mawsynram.
The court was hearing a writ petition filed by Yatra, a registered society, challenging the refusal by the Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram to allow the annual Hindu pilgrimage to the cave.
Justice Hamarsing Thangkhiew, in his order, noted that during the course of the proceedings and after hearing the Dorbar Shnong, as well as the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police, it became apparent that additional time was necessary for the Dorbar Shnong to attempt to resolve the issue concerning the NOC.

The High Court has scheduled the next hearing for August 14, 2024, to allow the parties involved to inform the court of their decision.
Justice Thangkhiew also expressed hope that an amicable solution would be reached before the next hearing date.
