Imphal: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho on Saturday urged Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen to ask her husband to stop alleged attacks and killings of Naga civilians.
Speaking on the sidelines of a climate-resilient springshed conclave in Imphal, Dikho said the state government and people wanted Kipgen to perform her duties from Imphal, but added that she should ask her husband and his cadres to stop killing Nagas.
His remarks come after at least seven Naga civilians, including a Nepali national, were reportedly killed in ambushes in Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts on October 10.
Naga legislators, including Dikho, have previously demanded Kipgen’s removal, alleging her husband, Thangboi Kipgen, has links to armed groups operating under the Suspension of Operations agreement.
They have also blamed such groups for the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians from Leilon Vaiphei in Kangpokpi district in June. These allegations have not been independently established in the information provided.
