Imphal: The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), has strongly condemned the killing of two Naga Village Volunteers and the injury of several others in an alleged attack by KNF-P Kuki militants at around 7:30 am on Friday.
In response to the incident, the LNC-M declared an immediate Emergency Total Shutdown across all Liangmai Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur until further notice.
During the shutdown, all shops, offices, institutions and non-essential activities will remain closed in solidarity, the council stated.
However, emergency and essential services, including medical, fire and other emergency response services, will be exempted.
The Liangmai Naga apex body urged everyone to extend full cooperation and observe the shutdown in a disciplined and peaceful manner.
The council also appealed to members of the community to remain calm, united and peaceful.
It urged the concerned authorities to take immediate and decisive measures to ensure the safety and security of the public and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
