Imphal: Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday attended the Investiture Ceremony for the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 held at the Manipur State Film Development Society in Imphal.
During the ceremony, the Governor conferred citations on outstanding units of the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, BRTF, and Manipur Police in recognition of their exemplary service in the state.
The event was also attended by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, and ministers Konthoujam Govindas Singh and Khuraijam Loken Singh, among others.
Units that received the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 included 19 Garhwal Rifles, 17 Assam Rifles, 38 Assam Rifles, 40 Assam Rifles, 2 Mahar Regiment, 25 BRTF, Kakching District Police, Senapati District Police, Churachandpur District Police, 10 BSF, and 143 CRPF.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla said the occasion was not merely ceremonial but a moment of reflection, gratitude, and recognition. He lauded the unwavering dedication, courage, and service of the armed forces in maintaining peace and stability in Manipur.
Referring to the challenges faced by the state in recent years, he noted that security forces had stood firm under demanding conditions, ensuring law and order while helping restore a sense of security among citizens.
The Governor also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of personnel, stating that their support plays a crucial role in enabling the forces to carry out their duties effectively. He emphasised that the Governor’s Unit Citation recognises collective excellence, discipline, teamwork, and commitment to duty.
Highlighting the importance of restraint, Bhalla said that the judicious use of force has strengthened public confidence and contributed to the gradual return of normalcy. He further stressed the need for continued coordination between security forces and civil administration.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh commended both Central and state forces for their role in providing humanitarian assistance and saving lives across communities. He underlined the importance of public cooperation in strengthening communal harmony and supporting government efforts to restore lasting peace.
The ceremony was attended by a Member of Parliament, MLAs, and senior civil, military, and police officials. It concluded with a reaffirmation of commitment from all stakeholders towards maintaining peace and advancing the development of Manipur.
