Imphal: Amid growing speculation and demands for the formation of a popular government in Manipur, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B. L. Santhosh and the party’s Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra arrived in Imphal on Wednesday.
They were received by state BJP president A. Sarda Devi and other party workers at Imphal Airport.
During their three-day visit, the senior BJP leaders are expected to hold a series of meetings with party MLAs from both the hills and the valley, as well as with BJP office bearers and other prominent personalities.
On Wednesday evening, Santhosh and Patra are scheduled to meet legislators from BJP’s alliance partners, including the Naga People’s Front (NPF).

According to sources, the BJP central leaders are also expected to meet Kuki MLAs in Churachandpur district.
BJP Manipur MLAs are likely to raise the issue of forming a popular government during their discussions with the two national leaders. Reports indicate that BJP legislators have already begun internal consultations to present a united stand on the matter.
