Imphal: Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh launched the Intensified 100 Days TB Campaign for six districts at a ceremony held at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal.
The event was organised by the Directorate of Health Services, National Health Mission, and the State TB Cell, Manipur.
During his address, Dr. Ranjan emphasized that tuberculosis (TB) is now a treatable disease but acknowledged persistent challenges in certain parts of Manipur, such as medicine shortages and difficulties in accessing remote regions. He stressed the need for urgent action to resolve these barriers and ensure uninterrupted treatment access for all.
Reflecting on TB screening methods, he noted logistical challenges in hard-to-reach areas where even two-wheeler vehicles cannot traverse. He highlighted the critical need for portable X-ray machines, particularly in remote areas like Nungba, to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
The Minister emphasized teamwork as essential to the success of the campaign, urging collective efforts to eliminate TB, provide timely treatment, and save lives. He noted that teamwork will be the backbone of its success in the mission.
The launch included the felicitation of Nikshay Mitra, distribution of food baskets, and recognition of TB Champions. Dr. Ranjan also flagged off the Ni-kshay Vahan and launched a Medical Mobile Van to aid in the campaign.
The event concluded with a visit to Ni-kshay Shivir, where the Minister interacted with beneficiaries, reiterating the government’s commitment to eliminating TB and improving healthcare delivery in the state.
