Guwahati: The Kuki Inpi Manipur has expressed strong opposition to the Manipur Government’s Guidelines for Permanent Housing Scheme for Displaced Persons, deeming the scheme detrimental to the interests and wishes of the Kuki-Zo community.

This decision was reached during the Executive Meeting held on June 11, 2024.

Following extensive deliberations, the Kuki Inpi Manipur concluded that the housing scheme initiated by the state government does not align with the needs and aspirations of the Kuki-Zo people.

Consequently, in accordance with the Emergency Assembly Resolution No. 3, dated July 4, 2023, the Kuki Inpi Manipur has officially communicated this stance to all displaced persons from the Kuki-Zo community, advising them not to consider the scheme proposed by the Manipur Government.

The organisation emphasised that this resolution is a reaffirmation of their commitment to ensuring justice, peace, and security for the Kuki-Zo people amid the alleged discrimination and persecution by the state government.

It said that the Kuki-Zo community remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice, fairness, and equality, and to resist any plans or initiatives until a permanent political solution is reached regarding the ethnic conflicts affecting their people.

In a message to the Kuki-Zo community, the Kuki Inpi Manipur extended gratitude for the unwavering support during the challenging times. They urged continued solidarity in striving for collective goals and objectives, with a firm belief that, with divine assistance, they will overcome the trials and tribulations imposed upon them.

“Justice and equality for our people are non-negotiable, and we shall fight for them to the end,” stated Janghaolun Haokip, secretary, information & publicity of the Kuki Inpi Manipur.
