Chandel: Kachui Timothy Zimik, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, emphasized the importance of collective action to bring peace and prosperity to Manipur during a campaign event held at Leipung Tampak village in Chandel district on Thursday.
Zimik, the consensus candidate of the NDA, stressed the need for peace and harmony in Manipur, urging the audience to become part of the solution rather than the problem. He expressed his commitment to working towards peace and development in Manipur if elected to Parliament, emphasizing that peace is crucial for inclusive development.
Addressing the strategic significance of Chandel and Tengnoupal as gateways to India’s Act East Policy, Zimik proposed ambitious plans for infrastructural development in these areas, including the establishment of special economic zones and improved road connectivity.
“Chandel and Tengnoupal must be properly connected to highways and national highways to Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. Let’s create a business-conducive environment to improve our economy. Together, let us bring prosperity and ensure sustainable development for Chandel and Tengnoupal,” said Zimik, a former principal chief commissioner of Income Tax, Ministry of Finance (Revenue).
Timothy Zimik also acknowledged the possibility of an additional seat in the Chandel district if the delimitation process occurs, promising to consider the concerns and views of the constituents on the matter.
Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton, and Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, along with other NDA alliance leaders, joined the campaign in Chandel. Patton praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives aimed at fostering development in the northeast during his address.
Various church leaders from Chandel district offered their blessings to Zimik for the success of the election during the event.
The campaign event, attended by leaders from the BJP, NPF, and NPP, demonstrated a unified front in support of Zimik’s candidacy. NPF Manipur state unit president and minister Awangbow Newmai, BJP MLA SS Olish, and NPP MLA Janghemlung Panmei, among others, endorsed Zimik, emphasizing the importance of regional growth, representation, and collaborative governance for Manipur.
