Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Manipur ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
Reports suggest that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is anticipated to be in Manipur around April 14-15. Manipur is set to go to polls in two phases on April 19 and April 26.
As a star campaigner, Shah is expected to address a rally at a public ground in the state capital.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated former state education minister T Basanta Kumar as its candidate for the inner Manipur seat, which encompasses valley districts including Imphal.

Last year in May, the union Home minister had visited Manipur to review security measures. During his four-day stay, Shah had engaged with residents and civil society organisations in both valley and hill districts.
The BJP has extended its support to Naga People’s Front (NPF) candidate for the outer Manipur seat, which comprises the state’s hill districts.
