Imphal: Ending weeks of speculation, Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh has been officially announced as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on Tuesday.
In the BJP’s 6th list of candidates released, Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh, who currently serves as the Minister of Law & Legislative Affairs and Education, was nominated by the party’s central leadership to contest in the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024 for the Inner Manipur seat.

A seasoned politician, Basanta Kumar, aged 57, previously secured victory as an MLA from his constituency during the Manipur State Assembly polls in 2022.
Prior to his political career, he served as an Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer. Notably, he is also the son of former Union Minister Th Chaoba Singh.
